Celebrating Deewali Covid-19 style
In observance of Deewali 2020 we hosted a celebration at the TTTC’s Centre in Curepe, on Sunday 15 November, for the benefit of the trans and non-binary community. 25 persons including some of the migrants that we support were invited to join in the national religious holiday by participating in the lighting of deyas ( clay lanterns) and dining as a family on traditional east Indian food and sweets.
celebrating with health in mind
While we were keen on celebrating, we kept the health and welfare of our community in mind at all times. Sooo. we made sure to limit the number of persons who could visit, by identifying those member of our community who most would benefit from the celebration; We also enforced a santise and social distance and wear mask protocol – cheated for a sec to show our faces for a couple pics and the masks went back on.
It really is important that we continue to observe the safety guidelines to protect the most vulnerable in our community.
